Chicago Access Corporation (CAN TV) is looking to hire Training Manager. We seek a talented individual, committed to excellence who enjoys the challenges and opportunities of a fast-paced environment. The individual should share a passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

The Training Manager will direct day-to-day operations of the Training Department including oversight of CAN TV’s training programs (community and youth), teaching Chicago residents how to use the tools of television production to communicate via CAN TV.  They will Lead the design and implementation of new and/or enhanced training modules responsive to ever-evolving needs of clients, staff and other key stakeholders.

    CAN TV is an independent 501(c)(3) private foundation CAN TV that helps people adapt to a changing multi-media environment by teaching skills toward independent use of media, expanding the diversity of voices, ideas and opinions available on CAN TV and online.
    On our five local channels you can view the diversity of people and ideas that reflect Chicago, including voices often excluded from mainstream media. A city where residents can freely share their passions and talents with one another is a city that works better. For everyone.
    CAN TV operates from a modern multi-use facility located at 1309 S. Wood St. in the Illinois Medical District.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop curricula and course materials for video production and related training courses that meet the needs of clients, staff, and other key stakeholders
  • Design a streamlined, accessible roster of training opportunities designed to increase participation from diverse constituencies.  
  • Supervise the integration of new technology into the training program and enhance training to encourage distribution using multiple media platforms.
  • Train both training and operations staff in new equipment use and ensure that each employee demonstrates adequate proficiency to do their jobs.
  • Develop and oversee outreach strategies and special projects, workshops and training sessions that reach and engage targeted populations.
  • Ensure that the training department is staffed to achieve organizational goals and meet demand.
  • Supervise training staff.  Develop appropriate goals and activities for staff that will improve skills, enhance performance, and advance the organization’s mission and strategic plans.  
  • Develop annual the department budget and ongoing operations reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience and proficiency with TriCaster Technology, preferably with certification
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency of video camera technology and use, both portable and studio
  • Extensive knowledge and proficiency with non-linear editing software, preferably Adobe Premiere and Elements
  • Extensive Training experience, with both youth and adult education
  • Extensive Studio and Field Production experience
  • Extensive experience with lighting and lighting technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Suite and Excel.
