City Bureau's Public Newsroom: Growing a Grassroots Project

In early June, following city-wide actions spurred by the police killing of George Floyd, Chicago Public Schools announced that they would pause their meal distribution network. In response, a number of people-powered efforts, like the ones above, sprouted across Chicago to provide food and other supplies. How did our guests sustain their efforts? What did they learn along the way? And how can you put those lessons to use if you are considering starting your own mutual aid project?
